Wedding Shadowbox

I never really knew what a shadowbox was before and once I saw someone else's, I knew I just had to have one for myself. So now that we have been married for over a year I guess now's as good of time as any to finally make it. This is not the final product, something spilled on the program so I need to change that out. But I love how it turned out. I think it looks great and can not wait to be able to display it in our new home along with our wedding photos!

We have a basement!

The basement has been poured! YAY! It's now starting to look like a house. There was a slight problem pouring the cement but nothing that can't be easily fixed. On one of the corners it looks like when they pulled the frames off some of the corner came with it. But I contacted Hearthstone who contacted the builder and they will put the frame back up and repour that corner. It shouldn't affect our time frame at all.

Next comes the lumber drop which is scheduled right around Wednesday the 27th.

We meet with the home loan people that day also so we can get things moving along with them as well. There are so many things that they need! I guess they just don't give that kind of money to just anyone! So we have been trying to get that all together. It's not easy though. They want to know all your financial business. Such as a student loan I paid late on back in '06, I have to write them a letter about why it was paid late! How the heck am I suppose to remember that? I am sure I will get it figured out though.

This land is our land....

The excavation process on the house got delayed a week due to all this darn snow and cold! But the good news is they have cleared the snow away so they can start digging. I am hoping they will start the digging tomorrow and I will be able to capture a few pics of that. Chris and I have started to pick out paint samples so we can start to get some idea of how we would like our house to look. So far so good. We are on the same page with ideas and colors and have a few picked already! Just can't wait till we can actually see it on the walls!

Future home site

This is the site for our future home! Eventually there will be houses behind us and to the sides. Can't wait until they break ground!

Building a home

Well Chris and I are in the process of building a home! It is very exciting and nerve wrecking at the same time. We have the layout and elevation selected and have put down the down payment. We have also been to the studio to pick out our perfect home, choosing everything from floor to ceiling (literally) and everything in between.
I must say it is not that easy to pick all these things! Even at the studio, where we are sticking to the basics and upgrading a lot ourselves at a later time, there are a lot of choices. Chris and I have been there a couple times to make sure we got everything we wanted and we go back 12/16 to make the final decision. After that there is no going back!
I have had a lot of anxiety about such a major life change. What if we picked the wrong house, what if we don't like the area.....the list goes on and on. Truth of the matter is I am just so nervous and have a tendency to obssess over such decisions! (Chris can vouch for that)
